He accepted Christ at the early age of eight at New Life Missionary Baptist Church located in Settegast. Verge Whitehead Jr.’s favorite two scriptures are Proverbs 3:9-10 (KJV): “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine”. and Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV): “5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”. His favorite two songs are “Sign Me Up” & “In the Garden”. He participated in the youth choir, attended the Baptist Training Union, among other church activities. As an adult he was a member of the Brotherhood Ministry and was ordained as a Deacon of the Church. He served faithfully in the church until his health failed. He attended North Forest ISD schools and graduated from M. B. Smiley High School in 1971. Verge met and married Debra Ann, and to this union were two daughters, Stassa Latrice (Whitehead) Johnson and Kasandra Monick Whitehead.
Verge made a career in Data Processing at First National Bank in his early years. He worked in the transportation field at Bush Intercontinental Airport during his later years where he retired due to health complications.
On October 6, 2025, at 6:40PM God called Verge Whitehead Jr. to his eternal rest.
Verge Whitehead Jr. is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Father Verge Whitehead Sr., Brother B. W. Whitehead Sr., and the mother of his children Debra Ann Whitehead. A visitation will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338, on October 16, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
The committal service will take place at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
A catered reception will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
