

Windell was born, grew up and pursued his passion for teaching in Belize at the early age of 17 years old. He spent many years teaching and empowering students to realize their full academic potential.
Windell’s love and passion for teaching saw him taking his knowledge to several places in the country of Belize.From his humble beginnings in his hometown of Gales Point Manatee, where he was a principal and taught at Gales Point Methodist.
Windell also taught at Calvary Temple in Belize City, other towns and villages such as Freetown Sibun Methodist in the Belize District, Hope Creek Methodist School in the Stan Creek District.
Windell imparted his knowledge far and wide before returning to Gales Point Methodist School for a few more years before migrating to Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America.
He was predeceased by his father, Rodwell Young, step father James Bowen ,mother Hazel Bowen.
Windell is survived by his daughters: Sharrett Young, Mrs. Sharon Lewis, Mrs. Diane Ottley, Carmita Tasher and Keisha Reyes
Honorary daughters: Sylangia Sadra Oglesby, and Rita McSweaney.
Son’s: Paul Young(deceased), Alvin Young of Belize, Eian Young, Justin Young of Chicago Illinois.
Sisters: Mrs.Merlene Jenkins (deceased), Laura Cargill, Concie Young
Brothers: Carlton Young (deceased), Jeffrey Bowen (deceased),Raymond Young, Roy Bowen and Joel Bowen
Son-in-Laws: Kirk Lewis and Charleston Ottley
Daughter in Law: Mrs Kiara Young
Survived by several grandchildren , great grandchildren , nieces & nephews who will continues to carry forward his legacy of inspiration and love.
Windell’s life was a testament to the power of education and the profound influence one individual can have on the lives of many.
Known to many as Daddy , Granddad, Grandpa, Pops, uncle Windell, Maestro and Teacher Windell, he will be deeply missed by family, friends, and former students alike.
Service:
In keeping with his request, the funeral will be held in Gales Point, and his ashes will be scattered at Bar River at a date and time to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers and wreath, school supplies will be accepted instead and donated to the Gales Point Methodist School in honor of Windell Young’s memory.
