Barbara “Barb” Ann Lautenbacher (nee Schiller), age 65, passed away on May 26th, 2026 peacefully in the comforts of her home, and in the arms of her husband. Barbara was a long time resident of Feasterville, PA.
Barbara was born in Virginia Beach (and raised in Philadelphia), to parents Robert Schiller Sr. and Helen Traubel. Barbara graduated from North East High School in 1978. Following graduation, Barbara worked in several fields, but she found her greatest fulfillment in raising her three daughters. Professionally, Barbara dedicated over 20 years as a Billing Coder within the field of Neurology.
Barbara was a gifted gardener who possessed the power of restoration. She had a miraculous knack for coaxing life back into the withered, whether it was a dying plant, a broken light fixture or a heavy heart. She cherished every adventure with her family- kayaking across quiet waters with her husband, chasing the mist of waterfalls, and the simple joy of snuggling with her sweet dog, Honey. Barbara found peace in the simplicity of being outside, rooted to the world by the soles of her feet. This sense of being 'grounded' defined her—not just in nature, but in the deep, laughter-filled bonds she shared with her family and friends.
Continually, Barbara was defined by a unique blend of grit and grace. Even when life was difficult, she chose to see the best in people, teaching her girls to balance every criticism with two helpings of grace. A free spirit with a craftsman’s heart, Barbara was a portrait of strength and endurance. She remained dedicated to the joy of her inner circle, and practiced kindness with everyone she met. She was patient, intuitive and strong. Rooted in love, to know Barbara was to know light.
Barbara is survived by her loyal husband, Kurt Lautenbacher; daughters: Jessica McCrea (Andrew McCrea), Melissa Rufo (Dante Rufo), and Amanda Hellwig (Ryan Hellwig); grandchildren: Colin and Dalton McCrea, Olivia, Nico and Sonny Rufo, and (soon-to be earthside) Macy Hellwig; parents: Robert Schiller Sr. and Helen Trauble; and brothers: Robert Schiller Jr. (Di Schiller), and William Schiller.
