Cherian was born in Kerala, to parents, V. C. Mathai and Mariamma Mathai. Cherian Vellomchirayil Mathai went on to establish a career as a Supervisor, working for Cardone Industries for over 25 years. In addition, he was very active in his Church at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included gardening, being involved in prayer groups, and dedicating his life to his family. His undevoted love was towards his wife Annamma V. Cherian as they spent 50 wonderful years together.
Cherian is survived by his wife, Annamma V. Cherian; daughter, Julie Cherian Aprain; son, Ginu Cherian, and grandchildren, Joshua Aprain and Nishal Cherian.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing which will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 8:45 am to 9:45 am at St. Mary's Malankara Orthodox Cathedral, 1333 Welsh Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Followed by the funeral service from 9:45 am to 11:00 am.
Graveside services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, 1475 W County Line Rd, Hatboro, PA 19040, at 12:00 pm.
