

Donald O. MacNeil died on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at his residence. He was 71 years of age. Born in Plymouth, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Allen Donald MacNeil and the late Laura Frances Hull MacNeil. Donald was a resident of Philadelphia, PA for the past 31 years.
Master Sergeant MacNeil was an Air Force Jr. ROTC instructor at Pottstown Senior High School for the past 17 years, he had previously taught Jr. ROTC at Lincoln High School in Philadelphia. He was one of the founders of the Jr. ROTC Unit PA 951. He had been recognized by the Air Force with the Outstanding Organizational Award, as well as be awarded the Outstanding Instructor Badge. Donald was the longest tenured Jr. ROTC instructor worldwide. Mr. MacNeil was retired from the Air Force with 20 years of service as a Master Sergeant (E-7).
Donald was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Feasterville. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.
Donald was the beloved husband Christine M. (Ruby) MacNeil for 37 years. He was the devoted father of Allen D. (Michelle) MacNeil, II of Spokane, WA, Spencer D. (Diana) MacNeil of Newbury Park, CA, and Steven C. MacNeil of Surprise, AZ. He was the loving grandfather of William MacNeil and Christopher Redfern-MacNeil. He was the brother of Allen K. MacNeil of Plymouth, NH, Dawn Hixon of Pelham, NH, Pricilla Racette of Plymouth, NH, M. Ann Knight of Raleigh, NC, the late Heber Hull, Laura Goldsmith, and Arthur MacNeil.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Tribute to Master Sergeant MacNeil at 5 PM on Thursday November 10, 2011 in the Auditorium of Pottstown Senior High School, 750 North Washington St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
