Edward M. Drazek, age 95, was called home on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of John Drazek and Mary (nee Gora) Drazek. He was the youngest of eight children and was predeceased by all seven of his siblings: Walter, Matthew, William, Stella, Adolph (Dutch), Genevieve (Jenny) and Edna. He was the devoted husband of the late June (nee Buehler) Drazek.
A WWII veteran, Ed served in the Army from September, 1943 to November, 1945. He was an active soldier during the Battle of The Bulge.
Ed worked for the Reading Railroad, which became CON-RAIL, as a crane machinist. He was a hard worker who loved helping family and friends by mowing their lawns, shoveling their snow and general repairs. Ed loved wood working and building furniture. Cooking was another passion, making pierogies and babka, which he distributed to family and friends. He was also an avid gardener.
Ed loved dancing the polka at weddings and parties and he enjoyed family vacations and fishing in North Wildwood.
At the age of 90, it was nothing to see Ed up on a ladder, pruning a tree. He enjoyed his daily cup of coffee at McDonald’s. In his later years, Ed’s favorite pastime was sitting on his glider in his backyard and looking at the scenery.
Ed was a parishioner of Assumption BVM Church in Feasterville.
Surviving Edward are his children: Carol Wick (Robert), Edward Drazek (Darlene) and Ruth Catrambone (Rowland), his loving grandchildren: Odessa, Danielle (Kevin), Nicole (Matthew), Gary (Tom), and Stephanie and his great-grandchildren: Jackson, Gavin, Emmersyn, Cadin and Logan.
Relatives and friends are invited to Edward’s viewing at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Assumption BVM Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Edward’s memory be made to any Veteran’s charity or a charity of the donor’s choice.
