George was born on August 1, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Roxborough. His parents were George T. Focht, Jr. and Emma (nee Adams) Focht. After graduating from Roxborough High School in 1942, George enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1942. He served as a mechanic on the B-17 and B-24 "heavy bombers" in Foggia, Italy as a member of the 15th Air Force. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. On September 14, 1955, George married the first love of his life, Margaret ("Peg") Lustrup. They settled in Horsham, PA and had two children, Richard and Nanci. The family was active in Resurrection Lutheran Church in Horsham. Peg passed away far too soon in 1988. George had worked for many years at several bookkeeping positions, but retired after Peg's death. In May 1992, George married the second love of his life, Elizabeth Pfeifer after meeting her at Resurrection Church. They relocated to Minnetonka, MN so Elizabeth could finish her career with General Mills. When she retired, they moved to Florida where they spent many happy years and enjoyed several adventures. After Elizabeth passed in 2021, George returned home to PA.
George was pre-deceased by his parents, older sister Evelyn Sierer, and her husband Bill. He is survived by brother Richard and his wife Sandra, son Richard and his wife Lynne, daughter Nanci Alldred, Elizabeth's son, Dr. Fred Mayer and his wife Karen, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
