

Born in Philadelphia, she was one of five daughters. She was raised in an orphanage in her early years, then married Julius Christian Werner in 1930. They had one daughter Clarice. They lived in Bridesburg for many years, before relocating to Winchester Park in Northeast Philadelphia. She moved into the Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler six (6) years ago.
Helen was extremely active in the community, volunteering for many years at the Immaculate Mary Home, participating in the Northeast Artisans and St. Jerome’s Gem senior clubs, and as a member of the Mayfair Conwell Baptist Church.
She had many hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, working on puzzles, playing cards and writing poetry. She spent quiet time knitting and crocheting. She had an appreciation of music and loved playing the organ and the harmonica.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Julius Christian Werner in 1992 . Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Clarice and Bill Kane, her three grandchildren and their spouses, Judy and Dennis Morrissy, Bill and Michelle Kane and Donna and Bob Maurer, her eight great-grandchildren, Melissa Pierce, Kelsey Morrissy, Will Kane, Rob Maurer, Kristen Kane, Tim Maurer, Tom Kane and Stephanie Maurer, and her three great-great grandchildren, Parker and Brady Pierce and Liam Kane.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:30 am - 11:30 am on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA. Services will be held at 11:30 am with internment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
