She was born, Irma Gunst, on May 22, 1927, to her parents Wilhelm and Maria Gunst in Mannheim, Germany. She is survived by her husband, Guy W. Brittingham, two nieces Monica and Irma, seven nephews, one of whom, Harry, has spent his vacations with Irma and Guy since his teens. Irma has adored Harry ever since his infancy. When Harry was notified of Irma’s passing, he immediately traveled from Germany to the US to pay his last respects to his beloved aunt.
Irma attended college for two years, despite the fact that her country was torn by WW II. In the years that followed, Irma was hardly herself. She experienced nightmare that never ceased. The slightest noise would disorient her if not send her into shock.
She occasionally found work in her homeland as a fashion model. Irma also worked in retail clothing sales. Then all too soon Irma was 31 years of age and was growing horrified at the specter of becoming an old maid. Even though she was a terrific looking girl, she was sought-after by the wrong men.
He was a tall and handsome America soldier. Luckily enough he was single, but at first sight he seemed like just a pretty face in the crowd. She had come too far to let him out of her sight. Then it happened, he picked her out.
Thus began the fifty-nine exciting years of her exciting marriage to Guy Brittingham.
