He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Born on March 13, 1956, in Mavelikkara, Kerala, to the late K.J. Thomas and Kuttyamma Kallarakal, Jain was the youngest of seven siblings. He was deeply loved and affectionately cared for —a role he would later mirror in his own nurturing nature. He completed his education at MS High School and Bishop Moore College, in Mavelikkara earning a B.A. degree in Economics. From an early age, he had a deep appreciation for learning and placed great value on academics. Driven by this passion, he spent several early years working as a tutor sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. In August of 1983, he left India and embarked on a journey to the United States. In an effort to remain close to his siblings and his extended family, he chose to settle in Philadelphia, PA. It was here that he built a life, raised his children, and became a cherished part of the community he so loved. He established deep roots in this city, dedicating over 35 years of service as a Respiratory Therapist at Nazareth Hospital.
A man of deep and unwavering faith, Jain was a lifelong believer in Christ and lived his life rooted in spiritual values. His commitment to the church was not limited to Sundays—it was a constant in his life. He was an active and devoted member of St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church and actively involved in EFIC, MOSC, and other community faith organizations. He served faithfully in multiple roles including Secretary, Treasurer, and committee member, always willing to step in with his time, talents, and leadership. His enduring trust in God carried him through life’s joys and challenges and remained a source of strength especially in his final months. Even during recent health challenges, Jain faced each day with grace, strength, and unshakable faith. His resilience was an inspiration to all who knew him. Though his absence leaves a deep void, his legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in all of us.
Jain is preceded in death by both parents, Kallarakal John Thomas & Kuttyamma Kallarakal and eldest brother John Mohan Kallarakal. He is survived by his loving wife – Andria Kallarakal, children – Ajit Jain (Camille), Anita Jain, Anisha Liang (Zi), granddaughter – Sophia Jain, siblings – Ruby Mathew, Lalan Kallarakal, Lekha Mathew, Vivija Maxwell, Eapen Kallarakal, in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family who will forever cherish his memory. Although he leaves a void that cannot be filled, Jain’s memory will forever live on in our hearts. As we reflect on his life and the lessons he imparted, we find comfort in knowing that his soul rests in eternal peace.
