

James proudly served as a veteran of the United States Army. He dedicated 28 years of service to Edgcomb Steel, where he worked as an orderman until his retirement. In his younger years, he was the talented pitcher for a neighborhood baseball team in Kensington. He also was a lifelong, devoted fan of Philadelphia sports teams. James enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, but his greatest passion was woodworking, where he found both creativity and joy. He was also a generous and devoted supporter of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
James is survived by his son, James S. and daughter, Mary Ellen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Bertha Mary. He was also predeceased by his four brothers, John, Tom, Philip and Harry and his four sisters, Margaret, Elenor, Elaine, and Elsie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service which will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10:00 am - Forest Hills Cemetery, 25 Byberry Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Please follow the arrows at the entrance of the cemetery to meet directly at his graveside location.
