John Andrew Ritchie Sr., 91, current resident of Churchville PA (formerly of Trevose, PA) was welcomed into his heavenly home on Monday, September 9, 2019. John was born on July 11, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA son of Andrew and Maria (Krumpasbe) Ritchie. He married the love of his life Rita (Pack) Ritchie on April 12, 1947. The couple went on to celebrate 60 years of marriage. John, a carpenter by trade worked in maintenance at Eastern State School and Hospital. John was gifted with his hands and enjoyed home improvement projects of all kinds. Once starting a project he worked tirelessly until it was completed. His home was filled with handcrafted pieces of furniture, cabinetry, and woodwork. He loved to share his gift with friends and family, always helping out with a project or teaching others how to fix or build things. John enjoyed playing baseball in his younger days and rarely missed watching a Phillies’ game. An avid dog lover, John had many furry friends over the years who always brought a smile to his face. He took great pride in his family and was very grateful for what he had. He loved to watch his great grandchildren and regularly laughed at their antics and celebrated their accomplishments.
John is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Maria Ritchie, his wife Rita Ritchie, and his son-in-law Eric Baker. He is survived by his devoted daughter Rita (Ritchie) Baker, his grandson Daniel (Theresa) August and his great-grandchildren Timothy and Karis.
