In Loving Memory of Sis. Kuttiamma
Sis. Kuttiamma was born in 1947 at Kalayapuram, Kottarakara, Kerala, as the youngest daughter of Chacko Oommen and Mariamma Chacko of the Munduvelikalayil family. Her paternal family roots were from the Koipuram family of Chattannoor. She was blessed with two brothers and three sisters.
After completing her school education, she married T. Y. Babykutty in 1966 at the age of 19. In the same year, she moved with her husband to Bhopal, where he was employed with BHEL. Her beloved husband, Babykutty, went to be with the Lord in 2021.
Together, they were blessed with three children—Johnson, Samson, and Susan; Children in Law: Suja, Reny and Lajji; Seven grandchildren—Aaron, Sharon, Abhishek, Rhea, Achsa, Anand, and Grace; Grandson-in-law, Sonu Sunny; Great-granddaughter, Rebekah.
Her Work and Life in the United States
In 1993, Sis. Kuttiamma moved with her family to the United States. She worked faithfully at Cardone Industries for 14 years, from 1993 until 2007.
She was later diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and received a kidney transplant in 2011. Following transplant rejection in 2016, she returned to dialysis and faithfully continued dialysis three times a week until this past Monday.
Through these years of physical challenges, she continued to demonstrate remarkable perseverance and strength.
Her Faith and Fellowship
Sis. Kuttiamma accepted the Lord at an early age and remained in fellowship with the people of God throughout her life. Her faith was not merely something she spoke about; it was reflected in her daily life, her devotion to her family, and the way she cared for others.
Family prayer held a special place in her heart. The family altar was an important part of their home, and morning and evening prayer were a consistent part of family life. She encouraged her children and family to seek the Lord together and to maintain a life of prayer.
Before moving to the United States, she was associated with the Bhopal Brethren Assembly and, earlier, with the Thrikkannamangal Prayer Hall in Kottarakara for several years.
After moving to the United States in 1993, she became an active member of Philadelphia Gospel Hall, where she faithfully fellowshipped for more than 33 years. She was also active in
the Sisters' Prayer Meeting and deeply valued the fellowship of believers.
Sis. Kuttiamma had a special fondness for old Christian songs. She cherished the familiar hymns and tunes that had been part of her spiritual journey and remained close to her heart throughout her life.
A Loving and Hospitable Heart
Sis. Kuttiamma was known for her hospitality and her joy in serving others. Preparing and serving food was one of the ways she expressed her love and care. Her home was a place
where family members, friends, and fellow believers could experience her warmth, generosity, and welcoming spirit.
She also had a remarkable memory, particularly when it came to family history. She could remember relatives from both her paternal and maternal sides and often recalled family connections and stories from years gone by.
She made a special effort to maintain relationships with family members and friends, keeping in regular—and often weekly—contact with many of them. These relationships were precious to
her, and she took great joy in staying connected with those she loved.
A Life of Faith, Family, and Prayer
Sis. Kuttiamma will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Above all, she will be remembered as a woman who loved the Lord, valued the fellowship of God's people, treasured family prayer, and expressed her love through service and hospitality.
Her life leaves behind a testimony of faithfulness, prayer, family devotion, fellowship, perseverance, and love.
As we remember her life, we are thankful to God for the many years He graciously gave her, for the influence she had on her family and those around her, and for the spiritual legacy she leaves behind.
Though we mourn her absence, we do not mourn as those who have no hope. We give thanks to God for her life and for the testimony she leaves with us.
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”
— Psalm 116:15
