On Thursday, August 8, 2019, Lourdes Rivera, loving daughter, mother, and grandmother died at the age of fifty-four in Philadelphia, PA. She was born in the Bronx, NY and raised in Dorado, PR. She was the daughter of Carmen Cordero Miller of Puerto Rico and Francisco Rivera of New York.
Lourdes earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and was an employee at Citizens Bank in Philadelphia. She had previously been an assistant branch manager at TD Bank, teller at Hudson United Bank, and a customer service representative at Fort Buchanan Federal Credit Union. Lourdes had also been a travel agent in Puerto Rico. She was a member and trustee of the Second Spanish Baptist Church. She had previously served the church as the treasurer.
She enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and dancing. During her youth, she was a member of the Girls Scouts and a dance group. Dancing was her passion. She travelled with the group dancing bomba, the traditional folklore of Puerto Rico. Lourdes was proud of her Puerto Rican heritage. Lourdes was loving, strong, and cheerful. She was the epitome of fortitude. Her smile would brighten up anyone’s day. She would lend a hand, a shoulder to cry on, or simply listen to anyone in need.
Lourdes was the devoted mother of Angel Melendez and Axel Melendez both of Philadelphia. She was the loving grandmother of Anthony Melendez, Jaylin Melendez, and Levi Melendez. She is also survived by her brother Francisco Rivera, mother Carmen Cordero Miller, and father Francisco Rivera.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday August 10, 2019 from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at the Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Her funeral service will follow at 7:30 PM.
