Luisa Maria Gonçalves Peirce (Rola), 67, of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, November 23rd after a long battle with lupus, and recent complications of pneumonia. She was surrounded by loved ones leading up to her passing. Though Luisa’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit gave her strength as she never stopped fighting.
Luisa was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 7th, 1955 to Domingos (2017) and Adelaide Goncalves. Luisa was raised just minutes away from The Church of Saint Anthony of Lisbon (Igreja de Santo António de Lisboa). Her family migrated to the United States when Luisa was just 12 years old.
Luisa was a loving mother to her two children, Jonathan (Ally) Rola and Samantha Rola. She was a spectacularly loving Grandmother (Avó) to her two beautiful granddaughters, Evangeline Quinn and Amina Li Rola
Luisa loved her family ferociously. Whether it was supporting Jonathan to pursue his cinematic passions or encouraging Samantha to pursue her teaching career, she was a constant cheerleader and supporter of her children and she was their biggest fan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Lupus Foundation of America. Friends and family will celebrate her life on the evening of November 30th at 6 o’clock at Lamb Funeral Home.
