TRIBUTE TO MARGE BRYANT MASON
Given by Nancy S. Keenan
Upon her Retirement
June 29, 2007
Marge Bryant Mason. Our guest of honor. Everyone knows her. To know her is to love her. She has touched so many lives.
The first time I heard of Marge, she and her late husband Jack managed the Pennridge Airport. Then I began to hear from several people that Marge was their flight instructor. I heard she flew in the Powder Puff Derby, a coast to coast air race for women. For years I heard nothing but great things about Marge.
Then I met Marge. Was I in for a surprise. She was even better than her press, and that was an accomplishment.
Pennridge Senior Center has been blessed with many good managers through the years. Each seemed to be right for the time they served. God looked kindly on us when she send Marge to be our nutrition manager, and then to be our center manager.
In addition to her caring ways, Marge brought her reputation with her, and that key opened a lot of doors for us in our initiative to build a new senior center. Years ago not many people knew there was a senior center in Perkasie, and probably cared less. It took years to raise community awareness.
When Marge arrived, community awareness went into high gear. The path to a new center has been long and hard, but it would have been a lot longer and a lot harder had Marge not spread her wings at the center. Her outreach to all her community contacts opened many doors for us.
A senior center is a home away from home for so many people. A good center manager has a big heart and a warm, kind word for those who need it most. Well, Marge fit that bill too. Her heart is so big it encompasses all her friends and acquaintances. There is always a smile, a willingness to help, a warm welcome from Marge.
Along the way, Marge found a new romance, her husband Lew. There followed a courtship on a motorcycle and Marge was once more a blushing bride.
Marge has earned the greatest tribute anyone could receive. She is in the hearts of all those with whom she as associated. She is surrounded by the love of not only her husband Lew, but of all those who have been blessed to come to know her. She has spread her bread of love upon the water and it has come back to her 1000 fold.
We will miss our center manager Marge, but our friend Marge will still be there for us. Our world is better because of the contributions of Marge Bryant Mason.
