Since childhood, Mercy was mentally disabled, and her parents took great care of her all her life. She attended special education classes at Rush Elementary School and George Washington High School in Philadelphia. Even though she was disabled, she loved life and was a happy person and enjoyed the company of her family. She had a beautiful smile and a great memory. Mercy remembered all her family members whenever they visited her. She called everyone one by their name and even had a pet name for some of them.
Mercy loved to travel, listen to music, watch TV, and eat home cooked food. She also loved to go to church and was friendly and would take the time to say hi to everyone she saw or met, even if she did not know them personally.
She was diagnosed with cancer in April 2019 and underwent surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia and was on the long road to recovery. She went back home in September 2019 to recover. Unfortunately, she again became sick in March 2020 and was under treatment again. This past September 14th, 2020, she was admitted again to Fox Chase Cancer center and was sent home in hospice care. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 21st, 2020 at 5:30 pm surrounded by her loving family and other loved ones.
Mercy is survived by her loving parents, her father, Mr. Baby John, her mother, Mrs. Achamma Baby, her brother, Mr. Roy John, her sister, Ms. Merrill Baby, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Linda John, her niece Nia John, and all of her Uncles, Aunties, and cousins.
