Raymond J. McArdle died peacefully on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. He was eighty-six years of age. Born in Philadelphia (Fishtown), he was the youngest of six children of the late Raymond J McArdle, Sr and Blanche C. Owens. He had lived in Upper Holland, PA with his daughter Eileen’s family for the last fourteen years and was formerly a longtime resident of Northeast Philadelphia.

Mr. McArdle was a proud veteran and served his country in the United States Naval Reserves and the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He received many honors including the Purple Heart. Ray (The Gun) served as a Philadelphia Police Officer in the 17th District for thirteen years until he became disabled. He also helped with the organization Assist for many years. He was a quiet, strong man who loved his children and family and had a desire to help people in need. Like his wife Edna, two hearts alike, he had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed laughing and carrying on.

He was the devoted father of Eileen Masceri Bishop (Jim) of Upper Holland, Raeleen Dolin (Ford) of Philadelphia, Raymond McArdle III (Patricia) of Lake Geneva WI, Joseph McArdle (Michele) of Philadelphia and the late Maryanne McArdle. He was the beloved grandfather of David Masceri, Stephanie Masceri (Justin) Benjamin, Nicole Masceri, Amy Bishop, Cory (Rose) Dolin, Alicia McArdle, Courtney (Kevin) Smith, Raymond McArdle IV and Ian McArdle; and great grandfather of Amelia and Adeline Dolin, Maverick Benjamin and Ella Rae Smith. He is also survived by his sister Irene Weiner, his brother in law Bill Weber, his sister in laws Ginny (Joe) Studer and Josie (Steve) Smutnik, and many nieces and nephews.

December 4, 2018

I remember when out children (about 40 years ago) were growing up at St. David’s. You and your wife were so very proud of the music Joe played. I also remember a Saturday night at a music event when Ray was taken ill and Pastor went to been with you all. You are now home with your wife and daughter. You will forever be in hearts of people who loved you. Sorry I will not be at your service, we will be out of town. Your family will be in my prayers. Safe travel my friend.
