Richard D. Kropp died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Manatawny Manor in Pottstown. He was ninety-one years of age. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Howard and Anna Kropp. Richard was a longtime resident of Kimberton. He had previously lived in Cheltenham.
Mr. Kropp was a retired executive vice-president of Calculon Corporation, a computer consulting firm. He was a Navy veteran of WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Richard was a graduate of Central High School, Class 184 in Philadelphia and Ursinus College. While attending Central High School, he was an All City track star. He continued to run track at Ursinus. Richard enjoyed attending his son's and grandsons's wrestling meets and became a lifelong fan of high school and college wrestling. He loved going to his grandson's baseball games. He was an avid collector of antiques. Richard was happiest when surrounded by his family and dogs.
Mr. Kropp was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chester Springs. At one time he had served the Church as the Treasurer.
Richard was the beloved husband of Jane Schmalz Kropp for fifty-nine years before her death in 2008 and Edna “Marjorie” Brey Kropp for the past six years. He was the devoted father of Richard Kropp (Linda) of Pottstown. He was the loving grandfather of Richard (Jennifer), William (Gina) and Thomas (Sarah) Kropp; great grandfather of Abigail, Emily, Joseph, Lucas and McKenzie Kropp. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Kropp.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 10 to 11 AM at the Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. His funeral service will be at 11 AM. Richard’s interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
