Rochelle "Chellie" Weiner

Rochelle "Chellie" Weiner was born on November 18, 1946. She passed away with strength and dignity, peacefully, at the wise age of 79. Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved daughter of Miriam “Mickie” (Seligman) and Matthew Schwartz. Chellie is survived by her sweetheart, Jacob Shenkman; her two daughters, Mindie Weiner (Jim Quinn) and Renee Gomberg; her former son in law, Brian Gomberg; her loving grandchildren, Austin, Emily, Ariah Gomberg and Mattie Wentz; devoted sisters, Marta Baxter and Harriet Schaffer; her nieces and nephews whom she adored, Lauren Snyder, Darcy Sample, Jeffery Sample, Matthew Schaffer, Hollie Coleman, Michael Schaffer, and Brandan Sample - along with many great nieces and nephews, and her very best friend, Sharon Lorenz.

Chellie worked hard for the things she wanted and evolved both personally and professionally throughout her whole life. A dedicated nurse, she defied those who told her she wouldn’t make it through nursing school. She went on to have an extensive career working in hospitals, such as St. Christopher's for Children in the burn unit, health care agencies, and the Bridge - a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center where she connected with the young adults she served. Chellie was an incredibly strong woman. She worked hard for what she wanted often facing incredibly challenging life events. Chellie was impressive in how she would consistently battle through adversity to achieve any goal that she identified. She would focus each time with sheer determination coupled with overwhelming support from her loved ones.

She enjoyed the simple things in life: music, traveling, the beach, a good meal, and going anywhere her grandchildren were. She lived life to the fullest and set that example for all to follow. Her grandson often reminding her that the stories of her travel are what inspired him to begin his own adventures across the globe.

Chellie was a beautiful and caring person who devoted endless love to her family and friends who were incredibly important to her. She found the good in everyone. She loved with her whole heart and those that knew her always felt that love. She made people feel important and seen. Throughout her whole life, she placed family and friends at the center of everything she did, she filled her time with the people she cared about. She had a rich and meaningful life that is so worth celebrating. She was warm, present, generous and kind. Her legacy is her endlessly loving heart. She and her love will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her services. Receiving will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm, at Lamb Funeral Home Inc., 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Followed by the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Please be sure to enter the funeral home entrance at the top of the hill on Byberry Road.

Burial will be held on the same grounds as the funeral home at Forest Hills Cemetery/Shalom Memorial Park, located at 25 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.

Shiva will be observed at Chellie and Jay’s home on Wednesday, August 12th.
