Rosa Esther Castro Rodriguez

Rosa Esther Castro Rodriguez, 91, passed away on May 25, 2015 at the Paoli Hospital in Paoli, Pennsylvania with family members at her side. She was born on August 17, 1923 in San German, Puerto Rico to Cornelius and Paula Castro-Cruz.

Rosa grew up in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico and after marriage, moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she raised her children as a devoted mother. She attended night school and graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia in 1985. Rosa worked as a seamstress and as an an early childcare assistant during her lifetime.

Rosa married Juan in 1942 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. They were happily married for 63 years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching the novellas and spending time with her family.

Rosa is survived by her brother, Luis Irizarry and children, Ruth Spaulding, John Rodriguez, Rosa Morris, Raymond Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez, Herman Rodriguez, Nixa Rodriguez, and Walter Rodriguez, her grandchildren, Dario, Melina, Gregory, John, Crystal, Stephanie, Dan, Derek, Jennifer, Richie, Diana, Anthony and Lauren and her nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Paula and Cornelius, her husband Juan, her daughter Diana, her son, Lester and her sisters, Olga and Margarita.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, May 29, 2015, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 pm, at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA. A luncheon will be held following the services at Arugula Ristorante, 1051 County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
