Born in Germany on March 15, 1949, Stephen immigrated to the United States as a child, settling amongst the Ukrainian community on North Franklin Street in Philadelphia. A proud graduate of the University of the Arts, he worked as a graphic artist before becoming a long-time adjunct professor at Drexel University.
Stephen was a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club and his artwork—drawings and photographs, among other forms—was exhibited in galleries throughout the city. He enjoyed attending Drexel basketball games, listening to the Philadelphia Orchestra, and spinning a good yarn to all those who’d listen.
Stephen was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; father, Harasym; and mother, Stanislawa. He is survived by a brother, Ihor; a sister, Daria; a collection of nieces and nephews, spanning the generations; and a host of extended family members and other loved ones.
The family will hold a private service for Stephen at a later date.
