Mr. K.C. Thomas, better known as Achankunj, was born to K.I. Chacko and Rachel Chacko on September 10, 1951 in Ranni, Kerala, India. He was the fifth and middle child of nine children. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined the IPC Pulappetta church with his parents and siblings. On January 2nd 1982, he married Saramma Philip, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K.A. Philip of Kochikuzhi in Mallapally. God blessed them with three children, Leni, Lincy, and Linto.

After finishing his secondary schooling in Pulappetta, Thomas lived and worked at various times in the cities of Madras, Bombay, and Jabalpur. In 1978, he started working in Saudi Arabia and lived in the city of Jeddah for 10 years before returning to Kerala in 1989. On October 23rd 1993, K.C. Thomas with his wife and three children immigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a member of Philadelphia India Christian Assembly at the time of his death, and had attended Grace Pentecostal Church from 2002 to 2008.

On January 8, 2019, K.C. Thomas left his earthly body to be with the Lord. Though death came for him at a time least expected, it was his time to join those who had gone before him to meet their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
