Tom was born in Philadelphia, to parents, Albert and Margaret Werge. Tom graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves during his twenties. He continued his education at Rhode Island College, where he earned a degree in nursing. That calling became the foundation of a hard-working life spent in the service of patients, colleagues, and community. Tom built his career as a registered nurse, working at Doylestown Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. He also devoted 45 years to Upper Bucks EMS, selflessly offering his time and skill to those in need.
Away from work, Tom found satisfaction in hands-on pursuits like landscaping. He took particular pride in nurturing the fishponds he created in his yard—at one point caring for three at once. He also enjoyed working on and making furniture, with a special preference for cherry wood. Tom always worked with remarkable care and diligence in caring for his home and yard.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Werge of 61 years, his sisters, Marilyn Donaghy (Dennis) and Janice Conlin (Craig), nine nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.
