

Vallery O. Cummings died on Thursday June 17, 2010 at his daughter’s home in Chalfont. He was 72 years of age. Born in Taylor, Mississippi, he was a resident of Philadelphia for 51 years. He also maintained a residence in North Wildwood, NJ.
Mr. Cummings was a retired Lieutenant in the Philadelphia Police Department. He served the department for 30 years in many capacities and receiving a number of commendations. Vallery was a model public servant. He also served his country as an Air Force Veteran.
Vallery was a member of F. O. P. Lodge #5, VFW Charles (Buddy) Lewis Post 5342 in the Villas, NJ, and the Villas Fishing Club. He was an avid reader, self-taught carpenter and mason, constructing may decks and fireplaces for friends and neighbors.
Vallery was the beloved husband of Barbara A. Bitzer Cummings for 51 years. He was the devoted father of Kenneth (Marcie) Cummings of Richboro, Jeanne (Joe) Cummings-Flanagan, Barbara (Jim) Pileggi both of Philadelphia, and Claire(Mark) Clerkin of Chalfont. He was the loving grandfather of Rachel , Bridget and Emily Clerkin, Kenny and Catherine Cummings and Zach and Cami Pileggi. He is also survived by his sisters Scotty (Ruth) Cummings, Mitzi Marek, and his nephews Bobby Lynn, Curtis, David and Cole.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 10 AM until 12 Noon at the Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA. His service will follow at 12 Noon. The interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
