Virginia (Ginny) Broadwater, née Miller, passed peacefully from our lives on March 10, 2021. She was 95 years old. She is survived by her son, Barry G. Broadwater (Mary), and her daughter, Donna M. B. Lehrich (Robert), and two grandsons, Anthony Broadwater (Leanne Clemens) and Michael Lehrich. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Broadwater, and her grandson, Barry Broadwater Jr.
Virginia was an only child raised by her widowed mother, with help from her Grandfather and Grandmother. She was born and raised in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia in a house built by her Grandfather. She attended Frankford high school where she played trumpet in the band. After graduation, she became a legal secretary until she married the love of her life, Bill Broadwater. Together they made a great team. She was Bill’s first mate of their boat, Dasomoda, where they spent many summer weekends and occasional cruising excursions. Ginny was a Delaware River Yachtsmen’s League (D.R.Y.L.) Delegate and a gold card member of Neshaminy Yacht Club and Ran-del Yacht Club where she also served as an officer for many years. Every year she and Bill would dance to Proud Mary at the Annual D.R.Y.L. dinner dance. She and Bill also enjoyed road trips, sightseeing and just being together. They had a fun time flea marketing, whether buying or selling. Ginny was an ice skater, a roller skater, an artist, a seamstress, and a cook. Ginny made clothes for Barbie and Ken dolls and sold them for some extra cash as well as for the fun of it. She loved family and family history. She spent countless hours documenting the family tree and sleuthing to track down missing info.
After raising the kids, Ginny learned to drive and went back to work as a secretary for a Public Adjuster, where she worked for many years. Virginia was never afraid of hard work, but she was always a lady, always by the side of her true love, her husband Bill.
Ginny and Bill lived in the Wissinoming home until they moved to Holy Redeemer Lafayette in 2015 where they shared an apartment until Bill needed to move to Long Term Care in 2019. Ginny would visit Bill almost every day until Covid19 kept them apart.
They are now at last reunited…love is forever.
She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by those she has left behind.
