Wesley was the youngest of 10 children. He was educated in the Philadelphia school system. Wesley served in the United States Coast Guard. Wesley held a job with the Philadelphia Naval Base for several years. He also worked at P.G. Hospital and Septa as a custodian for ten years. He moved on to pursue his dreams of following his father, Bishop Elijah, in becoming an ordained pastor of his mother and father's church. Bishop Wesley remained the pastor of Mount Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church until 2008. Everyone who knew Wesley, knew him to be a preaching, singing man, a very sharp dresser and often received compliments on his fine jewelry.
At a young age, Wesley grew to have a love for luxury cars. Wesley was also known for some of his sayings, "one thing for sure and two things for certain", and he was real quick to put his collar on the shelf in the name of Jesus.
Later on in life he met and married Willamina Ledbetter. The loved ones who preceded him in death: Robert, Mary, Elijah Jr, Louise, Josephine, Patricia, Diane, Larry and one grandson Robert Field.
Bishop Ledbetter touched many lives with service and dedication to the Lord. Bishop Wesley Ledbetter leaves to cherish in his memory his one and only brother, Edward Ledbetter, his children: Monique, Joreen, Nicole, Wesley Jr., Lataya, Yvonne, Khadijah, Natay and Mark. His grandchildren: Jamaine, Justice, Nicole, Jade, Yontre, Douglas, Charlay, Aubry, Myron, Chase, Solange, Sage, Shai, Sir, and 15 great grandchildren. His god son Eric Boone, two favorite nephews; Michael Gibbs and Eric Hayman and favorite cousins Tyrone and Angela Armstrong along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Brothers in Christ; Bishop Larry Rivers, Elder Marshall, Bishop Smith, Pastor Judah Rogers, Shouting John, Late Bishop Lyons, Bishop Cooper and also Bishop Howard. Bishop Ledbetter will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A public viewing for Wesley will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Holy Temple, 2240 N. 29th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2240 N. 29th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132. An interment will occur Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Forest Hills Cemetery, 25 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania 19006.
