Ardella E. Reust

Ardella Elizabeth Reust, 91 of Huntington went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 10, 2019 at Huntington Hospital. She was a resident at the Heritage of Huntington. Ardella was a member of Whitley County’s Willing Twenty Homemakers Club, Rosary Sodality, & instructor of religious education at St. Catherine & St. Joseph (Roanoke) Churches. She exhibited baking & sewing entries at the adult level at the Indiana State Fair. She enjoyed her children’s and grandchildren’s 4-H Clubs’ activities. After her Washington Center High School & International Business College education she was a Secretary at Harvester. She was the office manager at Schmidt Electric, Inc. in Fort Wayne for over 10 years, which she and her husband owned. She and her husband hosted many family reunions at the Reust homestead in Huntington. She enjoyed playing (gin rummy) cards, being outdoors, campfires, and kettle corn popping. She delighted in taking her grandchildren on golf kart, 4-wheeler and hay rides. Ardella was born on May 16, 1927 in Columbia City, a daughter of Edward P. and Florence C. (Harkenrider) Ness. Her parents preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Bernard George Reust on May 30, 1950 at Saint Catherine Catholic Church, (Nix Settlement) of Columbia City. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2014. Survivors include four sons: Anthony (Karen) Reust of Columbia City, Gerard (Teresa) Reust of Lagro, Ben (Tami) Reust of Roanoke, Andrew (Staci) Reust of Columbia City; two daughters: Mary Meerz of Fort Wayne, and Sharon (Ken) Deetz of Brighton, MI; 19 grandchildren: Brad & Blake Reust, Stacey, Noah, Ryan, & Brett Gettys, Jeff & Rene(Kate) Zickgraf, Brenten, Richard, & Lindell Reust, Megan, Adam & Eric Reust, Ian, Kyle, & Nathan Deetz, Dustin & Damian Reust; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Ann Marie Gettys; 2 brothers: Lloyd Ness, Eugene Ness and a sister: LaDonna Schroeder. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 pm. with recitation of the rosary at 4 pm. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry Street, Huntington with Father Tony Steinacker officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington Memorial donations can be made out to Donor’s Choice of Charity in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
