Barbara "Ann" Spahr, 86, of Warren passed away on Sunday June 21, 2026 at the Heritage Pointe of Warren. Ann was a 1958 graduate of Huntington High School. She then graduated from Ball State University in 1962 with a degree in education. During her time at Ball State, Ann was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Ann spent her career in education, teaching Home Economics at Riverview Middle School, and for a few years served as Director of Food Services for all of Huntington County Schools.While teaching was her passion and purpose, Ann’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved and adored her family. Ann was a member of Seminary United Methodist Church in Roanoke for 50 years prior to attending Solid Rock Church of Warren.. She was a member of numerous clubs: Tri Kappa, Tri Kappa Associates, Home Economics Club, Altrusa, and Chautauqua Literary Club. In her adult years, she became a collector of many things including small pitchers, Longaberger baskets, teddy bears and books. She was an avid reader.
Ann was born on May 2, 1940 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Harvey and Esther (Helms) Hiatt.
She was united in marriage to Keith A. Spahr on July 14, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in Warren. Keith preceded her in death on January 24, 2019.
Survivors include two sons: Scott Spahr of Warren, and Steven (Shannon) Spahr of Indianapolis; two daughters: Stacy (Steve) Buck of Fort Wayne, and Stephanie Spahr of Providence, Rhode Island; two sisters: Betty Wamsley of Vicksburg, MS, and Sherry (Tom) Rupert of Huntington; eight grandchildren: Andrew (Katie) Spahr, Sydney (Cody) Owen, Adrienne (Hagan) Dykstra, Savannah (Konner) Platt, Samuel Buck, Austin (Alexandra) Spahr, Sophia Buck and Fredy Norin; and seven great grandchildren: Andrew Spahr, Blaire Spahr, Nora Spahr, Parker Spahr, Beau Dykstra, August Owen, and Knox Platt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother: Dan Hiatt; and a sister: Connie Heyde.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26,2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, located at 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Warren.
