Brenda was born on February 26, 1953, to the late Richard and Myra (Robinson) Johnson. On October 30, 1971, she married Roger B. Emley in Huntington. Together, Brenda and Roger built a life and family that would remain the center of her world for nearly 55 years.
Throughout her life, Brenda worked at Pyle Industries, Majestic and ended her career as manager of environmental services at MJV in Huntington. But the things that defined Brenda most were never found on a résumé. She was creative and loved painting and crocheting, and anyone fortunate enough to sit at her table knew she was an exceptional cook. Food was one of the many ways Brenda cared for the people around her, and her family will remember not only what she made, but the love that came with it.
More than anything, Brenda loved her family. Of all the titles she held during her life, perhaps none meant more to her than “Nana.” Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an enormous source of happiness and pride, and time spent with them was among her greatest joys. She treasured the ordinary moments together just as much as the milestones, and the love she gave them will remain a part of their lives long after her passing.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Roger B. Emley of Huntington; two sons, Eric (Heather) Emley of Fort Wayne and Brad Emley of Huntington; five grandchildren, Ethan, Madyson, Mallory, Avery and Hudson; three great-grandchildren, Waylon, Miles and Vienna; her brother, Bill (Amy) Johnson of Warsaw; and her beloved dog, Gus, who was never far from her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Linda Nunemaker, Glenda Hall and Lois Pressler.
Brenda leaves behind a family that is better for having been loved by her, a lifetime of memories around the table and at home, and generations who will continue to carry pieces of her with them.
