Charles Bill "Bill" Crago

Charles W. “Bill” Crago, 82 of Huntington passed away Friday evening October 25, 2013 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Bill had served as a Police Officer for the City of Huntington for 28 years, the last 8 years he was Chief of Police under Mayor Ron Schenkel. He was a 1948 graduate of Huntington Township High school. He was a member of the Huntington Masonic Lodge. Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7 and the VFW Post 2689 in Huntington.
He was born on December 19, 1930 in Huntington a son of Laman and Esther (Shively) Crago.
He was united in marriage to Patricia A. Braden on March 16, 1952 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2004.
Survivors include a son: Thomas L. (Charlotte) Crago of Huntington and a daughter: Teresa (Jon) Jennings of Warren. A brother: Jim (Fondra) Crago of Markle and a sister: Carolyn “Sue” Jones of Fort Wayne. 11 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren and a Lady friend: Maro McBride of Huntington.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Jean Cain; 2 brothers: Fred Crago and Bob Crago and 3 sisters: Dessie Paxton, Helen Chin and Dorothy Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Elzie Spencer officiating.
Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
Memorial donations may be made out to the Huntington PAL Club in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
