Darrell (Bud) Johnson Jr. "BoxCarr", 71 of Huntington, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025 at his home. He had attended Huntington North High School and had served in the U.S. Army. He had worked for the U.S. Postal service in Florida, Fruehauf Trailer in Fort Wayne and Huntington Tree Service. BoxCarr first of all was a true Hippie, he loved living the simple life. He was a great welder and loved gardening and sitting outside with a drink in hand making people laugh, his laugh was contagious. His cat Lucy (Miss Kitty) was his little sidekick. He always had a cat or two hanging around the house, he could never turn them away. He was bullheaded like a "Johnson", as our family would say. He had many family and friends that have been there for him and he will be missed by them all. He wouldn't want a big "Todo", just for everyone to raise a glass and remember that crazy guy named BoxCarr on Drover St.
Bud was born on June 25, 1953 in Huntington, a son of the late Darrell Sr. and Vera (Short) Johnson.
Survivors include nieces: Corky (Little) Amable of Newhall, CA, Joanna Krause of Fort Wayne and Katharine Rafatjah of Brentwood, CA and a nephew: Darush Motazedi of Tarpon Springs, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Sandy Forsthoffer, Judy McNabb and Kay Lynn Rafatjah.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at the VFW Post #2689, 220 W. Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana.
Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in rural Huntington County.
