Donald B. “Don” Arms, 81 of Huntington passed away on January 10, 2022 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Don was a senior pastor at Columbia City Freewill Baptist Church and a senior pastor at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church. He was a church planter and senior pastor at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, Amazing Grace Church and Kansas City Freewill Baptist Church. Don was a founding officer of the Calvary Association and was an officer on the Indiana State Executive Board Association of Freewill Baptist Church. He was a Kosciusko County Freewill Baptist Church member and was an executive board officer for Freewill Baptist Youth Camp. While pastoring, Don also worked for the Kmart Corporation for 30 years as a re-buyer. Don enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting and working with his hands, including woodworking and tying flies. He loved his grandchildren. It was first and foremost his priority that they put Christ first in their lives.
On May 4, 1940, Don was born in Mousie, Kentucky, the son of the late Stanley and Rosa (Banks) Arms.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Horn. They were united in marriage on June 13, 1959, in Wabash, Indiana.
Additional survivors include a son: Rob (Beth) Arms of Crystal River, FL; a daughter: Ronda (Dan) Kline of Huntington; two sisters: Dorthy Smith and Brenda (Rival) McBride both of Columbia City; five grandchildren: Austin (Cayla) Kline, M.D. of North Carolina, Tayah (Jordan) Wozniak, PHD of California, Cory Arms of Florida, Brooke (Tristan) King of Florida, Jamison Kline of Indiana and one great-grandchild: Attlee Kline of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Wilma Faye Williams.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and 5:00pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s Health guidelines.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 10:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Private family interment will be at the Union Cemetery in Huntington County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made out to New Missions or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
