

Donald J. “Don” Everhart, 82 of Huntington passed away at 9:50 am on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Heritage Pointe. Don was a 1950 graduate of Hillsdale High School in Hillsdale, Michigan and a 1959 graduate of Huntington College. He served in the United States Navy as a medic from 1952 – 1956. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Huntington. In the early 1960’s he taught and coached basketball at Ossian High School he later moved in 1965 and taught at Colorado Springs Schools for a short time. He was a former board member and resource speaker for the Christian Businessman Council National Office and was a former member of Huntington College Board of Trustees. Don was a former longtime charter member of Cherry Hills Community Church in Littleton, Colorado. He owned and operated Century 21 Statesman Real Estate Agency for many years in Littleton, Colorado.
Don was born on September 17, 1932 in St. Michael, Pennsylvania, a son of John and Mae (Wineland) Everhart.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn M. Stephan on December 20, 1997 in Huntington. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son: Brett Everhart of Windsor, CO; a daughter: Ronda (Jim) Etherington of Pendleton, IN; two sisters: Betty (Dick) McClure of Hillsdale, MI; Norma (Roger) Lewis of Jonesville, MI; two stepsons: Chris (Brett) Stephan of Huntington; Chad (Erica) Stephan of Huntington; two stepdaughters: Carlene (Jay) Peters of Huntington; Cathalene (Scott) Smith of Huntington; two grandchildren; eight step grandchildren and a step great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Mae Everhart; two brothers: Duane Everhart, Harry Everhart and two sisters: Hazel and Jewel Everhart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Road, with Pastor Keith White and Pastor Gene Vickery officiating.
Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery at a later date.
