Donna Kay Smith 86, of Huntington, passed away on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at her residence. Donna was a 1957 graduate of Huntington High School. She then graduated from Huntington College in 1961 with a degree in education, and later received her masters degree from the University of Saint Francis. Donna spent her career as a teacher spanning over 30 years. She taught at Smith-Green community schools from 1961-1964, Riley Elementary from 1964-1973, before finishing her career at Lincoln Elementary from 1973 until retirement in 1995. She is a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Donna was born on August 1, 1939 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Donald F. and Shirley C. (Wiest) Smith.
Survivors include two sisters: Pam Hansen of Warren, and Sue Tatman of North Platt Nebraska; a nephew: Michael Tatman of North Platt Nebraska; and a niece: Page (Phil) Cardenas of Cheyenne WY
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brother-in-laws: Leroy Hansen, and Ron Tatman; and a Nephew: Steve Spear.
A graveside service will held on Wednesday July 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.
