Dorotha Stetzel Souers, 86 of Huntington, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning December 24, 2025, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. She was a 1957 graduate of Roanoke High School. Dorotha was employed at S.S. Kresge and later retired from Tokheim Corporation in Fort Wayne after many years of dedicated service. A woman of deep faith, Dorotha was a lifelong member of Pleasant Chapel Church in Roanoke. She will be fondly remembered for the legendary turtles she made each holiday season and for the desserts she lovingly prepared for family gatherings. An avid crocheter, Dorotha created countless baby gifts that are cherished by her great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was born on December 18, 1939, in Roanoke, a daughter of the late William Dale and Bernice (Rupert) Stetzel.
Dorotha is survived by her sister, Nancy S. Buckingham; her grandsons, Jacob and Noah Rensner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Kay Rensner; her parents, William Dale and Bernice Stetzel; her brothers, Earl Wayne Stetzel, LeRoy D. Stetzel, and Allen D. Stetzel; and her sister, Mary Eloise Beck.
A celebration of Dorotha’s life and faith will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana. Visitation will be from10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Pleasant Chapel Cemetery, in rural Roanoke, Indiana.
