Earl R. "Bob" Rickard

Earl R. “Bob” Rickard, 83 of Huntington passed away at 7:15 pm on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Norwood’s Health & Rehabilitation Center. Bob was a 1947 graduate of Monaca High School in Monaca, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Indiana Technical Institute in 1957. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 – 1952. Before going into the service he worked at J&L Steel in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania from 1947 – 1948. He worked for 33 years as a draftsman at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed gardening, model airplanes and pitching horseshoes. Bob was born on February 21, 1929 in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, a son of James L. and Marie I. (Lowman) Rickard. Survivors include three sons: Alan M. Rickard of Arvada, CO; Mark R. (Bonnie) Rickard of Huntington; Wayne S. Rickard of Huntington; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother: James “Wimp” Rickard and a nephew: Dennis Rickard. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 3:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Memorials are to Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750. Interment will take place at a later date.
