James E. “Jim” Miller, 64 of Huntington, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2012 at his residence. Jim worked for many years as a milk route driver for Schenkel’s Dairy. He had served on the Huntington County Sheriff’s Reserves and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a 1967 Graduate of Bluffton High school. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from April 4, 1967 until October 1, 1971, earning the rank of Corporal, serving in Vietnam from December 1967 through May 1968. Jim received a number of military citations and medals, including the National Defense Service Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star; the Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Presidential Unit Citation; the Combat Action Ribbon; the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and he also received a Purple Heart. He later served two years in the Army National Guard as a Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 85 and the VFW Post 2689. Jim was born on October 3, 1948 in Wells County a son of William H. and Ramona Jean (Sills) Miller. He was united in marriage to Gloria Ann Ballard on July 27, 1990 in Huntington. His wife survives. Additional Survivors include – Two daughters: Sabrina Wetzel of Naples, FL and Regina Harrison of Markle. Two step sons: Herbert Yoder of Houston, TX and Steven Yoder of Huntington. One step daughter: Jennifer Yoder of Huntington. Four grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. Four brothers: Steven Miller of Huntington, William Miller of Perris, CA, Rick Miller of Greenwood, IN and Tim Miller of Ossian. One sister: Joyce Thompson of Carthage, IN. He was preceded in death by a sister Janice Miller. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Herman officiating; there will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
