Janice Irene Collins

Janice “Red” Irene Collins, 50, of Peru, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 31, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. Janice was known to be silly and always tell it like it is. Her personality was just as fiery as the color of her hair. She could usually be found in her favorite comfortable chair but, in her younger years she'd be found dancing to Shania Twain or Alanis Morsette. You would never catch her without the TV on, usually watching Criminal Minds or CSI. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends. She was lucky to have found a best friend in her daughter, and with her and her three granddaughters, she was usually her happiest. Being “Mamaw” was her number one job and she loved all it entailed. She was much more than just a grandmother she was a shoulder to cry on, a friend to play with and always there when you needed her. To say she will be missed is an understatement. She was an amazing mother, sister, friend and so much more. Everyone knows Halloween was Janice’s favorite holiday, so it was fitting for her to make her exit from this world on that day. Janice was born on July 6, 1973 in Huntington, a daughter of Rodney Martin and Janice Irene Craig. Survivors include one daughter: Areil (Robert) Kessinger of Fort Wayne. Along with her two sons: Harley (Kate) Lyons of Huntington, Jesse (Samantha) Lyons of Decatur. Her father: Rodney Martin of Peru; two sisters: Sheila Martin of Huntington and Becky Snyder of Angola; two brothers: Dale Martin of Peru and Rodney (Tammy) Martin of Huntington; lots of nieces and nephews; and twelve grandchildren that she loved above all else: Laina, Amara, Athena, Ares, Titan, Thalia, Blakely, Raelin, James, Harper, Weston and, Xavier. She was preceded in death by her mother: Janice Irene Martin; a brother: Timothy Martin and an Uncle: Dale Martin. There will be a service at a later date.
