Joan McFadden

M. Joan McFadden, 83 of Huntington passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School. She had worked as a printer at the Herald Press and Our Sunday Visitor for 15 years. She was a member of Christ The King Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; she also enjoyed traveling, quilting and reading about biblical archaeology. She was a devoted grandmother and deeply loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was born on July 1, 1928 in Huntington, the daughter of Willard and Georgiana (Guethler) Frye.

She was united in marriage to William H. McFadden on July 22, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1984.

Survivors include two daughters: Pamela H. McFadden of Fort Wayne; Michelle (Jay) Beghtel of Huntington; a son: Timothy H. McFadden of Warsaw; four grandchildren: Christina Bortone of Atlanta, IN; Lucas Beghtel of Huntington; Melissa McFadden of Fort Wayne; Abby Beghtel of Huntington and two great grandchildren: Colin Bortone and Gracie Bortone.

She was preceded in death by a brother: George Frye.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Christ The King Episcopal Church, 1224 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington with Father Rich Miller officiating.

Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington County.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Christ The King Episcopal Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
