Johnye Lu Winkelman, 86 of Huntington, passed away early Friday morning June 12, 2026, at her residence. Johnye graduated from Culver High School. She spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her children. Johnye loved unconditionally and was always there to show her support. When she became a grandmother, she passed on her knowledge of motherhood to her children. Throughout her life Johnye enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, knitting, gardening, and cooking. She carried a strong faith and belief within her.
Johnye was born on May 1, 1940, in Antlers Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Johnson and Lorraine (Winford) Snipes.
She was united in marriage to Paul Winkelman on February 3, 1962, in Huntington, her husband survives in Huntington.
Additional survivors include two daughters: Diane (Dave) Henn of Huntington and Anna (Josh) Hornish of Milford; a son: Doug (Misty) Winkelman of Fort Mill, South Carolina; a sister: Wanda VonEhr of Culver; nine grandchildren: Jessica Wolf, Tyler Henn, Alli Schiffli, Ryan Cook, Lynsey Matityahu, Alissa Hindle, Jason Winkelman, Jordan Winkelman, and Eli Hornish. and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Linda Arthurholtz.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
