Dr. Joseph Marvin Keller, known most affectionately as "Marvin" or "Marv", age 94, of Huntington passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington, Indiana. Marvin was born on April 20, 1931 in Parke County, Indiana, to the late Claude and Francis (Harris) Keller. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1947 and attended Wabash College prior to enlisting in the military. Marvin served in the United States Air Force for four years and was stationed in Morocco, North Africa during the Korean War. After the military, he attended Florida State University where he earned two degrees, a Bachelor of Science degree in 1957, and a Master of Science degree in 1958. He earned a Doctorate of Education degree in 1971 from the University of Florida. Dr. Keller taught Physics at the Melbourne, Florida, high school. He then served as a Physics professor and Dean of Students at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida. Later he became Vice President of the college. Marvin enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of Bethel Assembly of God in Huntington.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Oden) Anson on August 1, 1998 in Huntington, Indiana. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son: Lyle Keller of Washington; three stepdaughters: Cynthia (Steve) Morris of Huntington, Susan (Gary Kuntz) Anson of Warsaw, and Patricia (Charlie) Hayhurst of Texas; a brother: Claude (Becky) Keller, Jr. of Fort Wayne; two sisters: Ethelind Mann of Huntington and Dolores Wilson of Markle; two grandchildren: Milo Keller and Rowan Keller; seventeen step-grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Ann Hite; a daughter, Tamara Keller; a sister, Donna Lesh; and a brother-in-law,William "Bill" Mann.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana with a memorial service immediately following starting at 12:00 noon.
