Lenard W. Cox, 81, of Huntington, passed away on Sunday evening, March 10, 2024 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne. He attended Huntington High school. Lenard was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country proudly. He worked for several years at American Hoist in Fort Wayne and retired from Hayes Wheels in Huntington. Lenard was a member of New Hope United Brethren Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hosting cookouts for family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Lenard never knew a stranger and was an avid storyteller.
Lenard was born on August 28, 1942 in Amity, Arkansas, the son of the late Lenard and Edna (Womack) Cox.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Miller on February 14, 1965 in Huntington. Bonnie survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter: Tracy Cox of Ohio; a son: Jeff (Lori) Cox of Huntington; three grandchildren: Joni Sprinkle, Alex Cox, Sam Cox and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild: Rae Cox; a brother: Glen Cox; two sisters: Sadie Cox and Willadane Tackett.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at New Hope United Brethren Church, 2001 Engle Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm following visitation at the church.
Memorial donations can be made out to New Hope United Brethren Church or Celebrate Recovery both can be sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana.
