M. Ed Holmes, 78, of Huntington passed away early Sunday morning, December 5, 2021 at his residence. Ed had worked as a Computer Programmer for over 30 years at Weatherhead and Memcor and then he worked in production for Square D for several years retiring in 2005. He was a 1961 graduate of Huntington High school and later graduated from Porter Business College. Ed was a member of the Markle Church of Christ where he served as a Greeter. He was active with the Huntington North Show Choir for 23 years and was the Head Cookie Baker for many years. He loved to play golf and was a great fan of the game; he was a member of the former Lafontaine Golf Course. Ed was an avid / lifetime fan of the Chicago Bears, he enjoyed going to Huntington University basketball games and he loved to travel.
Ed was born on October 10, 1943 a son of the late Lawrence and Crystal Harris Holmes.
He was united in marriage to Carol J. Henly on September 30, 1972 in Huntington. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son: Philip (Susan) Holmes of Longmeadow, MA; 2 grandsons: Hunter and Caellen. A brother LaMar (Janet) Holmes of Galveston, TX.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert Holmes, Richard Holmes and infant twins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. following the visitation at the Funeral Home, officiated by Gerald O. Moreland.
Entombment will take place at a later date at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
