Robert Eugene Tobias 94, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Huntington, passed away on Monday September 16, 2024 at Life Care Center in Fort Wayne. Robert had worked for the Sheet Metal Union Local 20 in Fort Wayne for 31 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Huntington, the Disabled American Veterans, and the New Haven American Legion Post 301. Robert Served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, fishing, metal detecting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Robert was born on March 21, 1930 in Huntington, a son of the late Glenn D. and Anna K. (Sunderman) Tobias.
He was united in marriage to Joan Rendel on June 6, 1953 in Gary IN. His wife preceded him in death on May 10, 2015.
Survivors include four daughters: Debby (Steve) Payne of Huntington, Shary Urschel of Fort Wayne, Pam (Dan) Moore of Canton OH, and Lori (Jeff) Tricker of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter: Cindy Blair; two brothers: Glenn Tobias Jr. and James Tobias; and two sisters: Helen Bickel and Betty Moschetti.
Visitation will be held on Thursday September 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, located at 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington IN 46750.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday September 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
