Rudy E. Decker

Rudy E. Decker, 78 of Huntington passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Rudy was a 1953 graduate of Andrews High School. He had worked at the Farm Bureau CO-OP in Bippus and Huntington for several years and had worked at Memcor for 10 years and most recently for the Town of Andrews for 17 years, retiring in 1997. He attended St. Paul’s County Line Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 2689 of Huntington; life member of the First Marine Division, life member of the North American Hunting Club, Gold Prospecting Association of America-Northern Indiana Chapter and the Korean Veterans Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping over the years. He enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rudy was born on February 24, 1935 in Huntington, the son of Raymond E. and Edith M. (Cass) Decker. He was united in marriage to Donna M. Hollowell on December 29, 1956 in Hamilton, Indiana. His wife survives. Additional survivors include a son: Randall E. (Maxine) Decker of Andrews; two daughters: Ramonda (Steve) Bickel of Andrews; Cynthia (Scott) Christman of Huntington; two sisters: Luella (Max) Hethcote of Warren; Doneta Rudy of Huntington; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Conrad Thompson officiating. Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to St. Paul’s County Line Church or Wounded Warriors Project or to Huntington County Cancer Services both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
