Samuel N. Tullis

Samuel N. Tullis, 80 of Huntington passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Millers Merry Manor. Sam was a Ham Radio Operator, “WA9QGL” was his sign. He worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Springfield, Ohio. He had served as a reserve on the Fort Wayne Police Department. Sam enjoyed going to the Beef & Board and enjoyed airplanes and was a World War II history buff, going deer hunting and was an avid Star Trek fan. Sam was born on November 14, 1939 in Andrews, Indiana, the son of the late Claude and Aldah (White) Tullis. He was united in marriage to Ramona Rousseau, she preceded him in death in November of 2000. He later married Patricia Rupert. His wife survives. Additional survivors include a son: Sam Tullis, Jr. of Huntington; a daughter: Tammy (Jerry) Carter of Markle; a stepdaughter: Elizabeth Shear of Fort Wayne; a stepson: Max (Greg) Cole of Chicago; a sister: Janice Omstead of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Tricia (Matt) Elzey of Decatur, Chris Null of Tennessee, Jade McDonald of Fort Wayne, Richard (Dawn) Carter of Markle, Sarah (Harrison Winchester) Carter of Fort Wayne, five great grandchildren and his first wife: Beatrice Huffman. He was preceded in death by a stepson: Karl Furhman. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 following visitation at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
