Stephen W. McIntyre, 63, of Huntington, passed away on at Saturday morning, October 3, 2026. He was a 1981 graduate of Huntington North High School and attended Manchester College. Steve worked for the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, Huntington City and County dispatch, and Parkview Huntington dispatch. He also worked at the Evergreen Juvenile Detention Center. He also served as a Huntington City Reserve Police Officer and on the Huntington City Council. He volunteered for Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County and PAL T-ball Coordinator. He loved to cook, watch the Food Network, tell stories, and make people laugh. Funny, curious, intelligent, and entirely himself, Steve left an impression wherever he went. He will be deeply missed, loudly remembered, and talked about for years to come - which is probably exactly how he would have wanted it.
He was born November 8, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana, he was a son of the late James and Lois (Zink) McIntyre.
Steve was Dad, Grandpa, brother, friend, storyteller, occasional troublemaker, and unmistakably himself. He was the father of Craig, Stephenie (Andrew) Ley, Joshua (Stephanie), Jordan, Brandon, and Broderick, and a proud grandfather of Laurel, Lachlan, and Matthew. He is also survived by his brothers, James, David, and Rich McIntyre, a sister-in-law, Ann McIntyre and his best friend, Shawn McIntyre.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley; his parents; and two brothers Joe and Robert McIntyre.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Forks of the Wabash, Richardville Room, 3011 W Park Dr, Huntington, Indiana.
