

Thelma L. Proffitt, 95 of Huntington passed away at 8:05 pm on Monday, June 16, 2014 at The Heritage of Huntington. Thelma was a 1934 graduate of Rockford High School. She was a member of the College Park United Brethren Church for over 50 years. She had worked at Schacht Rubber Company for over 20 years and she worked at The Huntington House for 10 years, into her mid 80’s.
Thelma was born on September 6, 1918 in Van Wert County, Ohio, a daughter of Eli and Bertha (Bice) Adams.
She was united in marriage to Rev. Carl J. Proffitt in April of 1937. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1956.
Survivors include two sons: Marvin (Donna) Proffitt of Huntington; David (Sheryl) Proffitt of Kokomo; a daughter: Sara L. Hofstetter of Geneva; six grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Marion Adams, LaDoyt Adams, a sister: Marie Edwards and a granddaughter: Vicki Weaver.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Paul Hirschy and Pastor Gary Dilley officiating.
Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Ohio.
Memorial donations may be made out to Family Hospice or to College Park United Brethren Church both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
