William "Bill" L. Sunderman

William “Bill” L. Sunderman, 78 of Huntington passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Bill had worked for and then owned and operated the family business, Lillsun Manufacturing Co. Inc. for 60 years retiring in 2010. He also served as a Huntington City Firefighter for 23 ½ years, retiring in 1992. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Huntington High school. He then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War until 1967. Bill was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Train Collectors Association, the American Legion Post 85 and the VFW Post 2689. He was an RV’er and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, PALS Chapter. Bill was avid woodworker and enjoyed reading about History. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He was born on February 28, 1944, in Huntington a son of Herman J. and Lillian M. (Holley) Sundermann. He was united in marriage to Rita A. McKinley on August 28, 1965, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Huntington, IN. Rita survives. Additional survivors include two sons: David J. Sunderman and Don J. Sunderman both of Huntington; and a sister Sharon (Michael) Ulrich of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2465 W. Keiser Rd., Columbia City, IN with Pastor David Mommens officiating. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the Church. Interment will be at the St. Peter's Cemetery, Columbia City, Indiana.
